Our Paw-some Adventure Before the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

7.jpg

Are your kids crazy about the Nickelodeon show PAW Patrol? PAW Patrol is one of the most popular shows for kids on tv today. My girls love the show and were tickled to hear we had the special opportunity to see the beloved Nick Jr. character Chase come to life before their eyes. Read on to hear all about the new PAW Patrol TV movie and our adventure at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade PAW Patrol balloon inflation.

Why Paw Patrol is a Show My Girls Love

4.jpg

“No job is too big; no pup is too small.” This is the main idea of the kid-friendly Nick Jr. television show PAW Patrol. The show focuses on a ten-year-old Ryder and his pack of rescue dogs. Each of the six rescue pups has a unique personality and talent, which allows the pups to all work together to save the day and keep Adventure Bay safe. As a mom, I appreciate that the show teaches the kids valuable life lessons and encourages positive behaviors.

Why the New TV Movie is the Perfect Stocking Stuffer

The PAW Patrol crew have been embarking on new and exciting adventures, which you can experience through the PAW Patrol: Mighty Pups DVD, available exclusively at Walmart. It takes the fans of the show on a longer mission, allowing them to spend more time with the characters they know and love. If your kids are like my girls, you know that they can re-watch their favorite PAW Patrol episodes over and over again. So, when I heard that the DVD is being sold exclusively at Walmart, I knew it would be a great stocking stuffer for them. My girls will be thrilled that they can watch the movie whenever they want!

What Made This Event Even More Special

As a super popular show for kids, it makes sense that PAW Patrol would be featured in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. A giant balloon would bring the pup, Chase, to life in New York City for the parade – and we got to see it happen! As PAW Patrol lovers and fans of the parade’s giant balloons, I knew this was an event my girls would absolutely love. And, I wasn’t wrong! Even with the chilly weather, it was so fun to see the balloon being filled right before our eyes. My daughters thought it was PAW-some!

Why Everyone Should See the Balloon Inflation

If you have only ever watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV, then you may not have given much thought to how the popular parade happens. For instance, the iconic massive balloons have to be inflated and staged the day before Thanksgiving. Visitors can stop by and watch the balloons be inflated and see the characters grow and float. Plus, you also get to see how they prevent the balloons from floating away before the parade – with giant nets and sandbags! It’s really fun to see the magic that happens before the main events even begins.

Why We Love the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

All across America, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade is a well-loved holiday tradition. But, for New Yorkers, the parade is quintessential to us. It is the true start to the holiday season. It wouldn’t feel like the holidays without it!

A Nickelodeon All-Inclusive Luxury Vacation Perfect for Kids and Their Parents

image4.JPG

My family recently had the opportunity to vacation at the Nick Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Punta Cana, itself, is a beautiful beach destination. When I learned that there is now a Nickelodeon-themed all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, I knew it was a perfect vacation destination for my family. And, I wasn’t wrong.

You may hear the words “Nickelodeon” and “all-inclusive” and think you’ve heard incorrectly. You didn’t. The combination of Nickelodeon fun and all-inclusive go together better than you can dream. I’m here today to tell you all the ways Nickelodeon has discovered the secret to family vacations.

The Resort Itself

Since the Nick Resort is family-friendly and Nickelodeon-themed, you will instantly be taken back to childhood with its playful accommodations. It has all the standards of regular all-inclusive resorts, but the colors are brighter, the decorations are sillier, and the activities are wilder. For instance, the high rollers can stay in a replica of Spongebob’s pineapple under the sea.

Now, keep in mind, the resort is designed for luxury travelers. In other words, while the décor may bring out the kid in you that does not mean you will not receive the finest accommodations. The rooms are lovely, and the resort has everything you could possibly need to make you comfortable. Plus, it is located on the white sandy beach of Punta Cana offer endless scenic views. We loved having the combination of playfulness and luxury in the same setting – it was perfect for our family.

Yummy Food and Delicious Drinks

My family loves all-inclusive vacations because all the food and drinks are included. At Nick Resort, the all-inclusive dining options were fantastic. There were plenty of kid-friendly options for my girls, but the resort also had gourmet restaurants that kept our adult bellies happy. They even have an adult-only restaurant!

We also loved all the free drinks. As soon as we arrived, our girls were treated to a slime smoothie while my husband and I were given a glass of sparkling champagne. Yes, please. The all-inclusive food and alcohol options were a major plus for parents. After a busy day at the beach and the pool, it was wonderful to know we could enjoy fine dining and a glass (or two) of wine each evening.

Play Like a Nick Kid

We spent most of our time at Aqua Nick. Aqua Nick is a huge waterpark with water slides, splash pads, spray grounds, and a lazy river. Our girls had the time of their lives! They splashed and played for hours. Plus, the pool area had the cutest little sun loungers just for kids.

My girls also loved seeing their favorite Nickelodeon characters in real life. Seeing Dora and the dogs from Paw Patrol at the resort was enough to leave smiles on their faces all day long. But, what really gave them the giggles was seeing people get slimed. Do you remember Nickelodeon slimings? The Nick Resort does mass slimings every day at Aqua Nick.

Act Like an Adult

While the Nick Resort certainly caters to kids, it does not stop with them. Adults are treated like esteemed guests as well. In addition to the adult-only restaurant and adult beverages, they also offer the Just Kidding Kids Club. The all-inclusive kids club includes supervised daily activities for kids 4-12 years old. This means you can drop your kids off to have some fun while you sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful views – or head to the gorgeous Vassa Spa or scenic infinity pool.

Spending a Nickelodeon Sunny Day creating fabulous hairstyles!

This post is sponsored by Nickelodeon.  The content and opinions expressed below are that of Inrachelshoes.

Sunny Day - Still_preview.jpeg

Talented 10-year-old Sunny Day is a master hairstylist and salon owner. With her friends Rox and Blair and a can-do attitude, Sunny is ready to save the day—one hairdo at a time! Their teamwork and exchange of ideas is such a great example for kids, tune in and watch Sunny Day weekdays on Nickelodeon!

When picking shows for my girls to watch and enjoy I like shows that are fun, but they also need to teach a valuable lesson.  Following a role model, a child can learn a lot about themselves which will help them towards their future.  What kid wouldn’t learn life lessons taught by their FAVORITE character on TV!  Nickelodeon’s show “Sunny Day” for instance is one of the top on my list.

Sunny Day - Key Art_preview.png

The thing about “Sunny Day” that my husband and I love for the girls are the messages that are being conveyed to the kids through the plots and characters of the show. Being that Sunny, the main character on the show is a hairstylist, she is always looking for inspiration and is constantly journeying through her creative process of coming up with new hairstyles.  I like that when my girls are watching the show on Nick Jr., they are learning what it means to be original and how ideas can come from the most trivial things that you would never expect.  I sometimes overhear the two of them coming up with creative projects and how they’ve been inspired by something in outdoors and on their tablets.

Another key idea that “Sunny Day” hones in on is the significance of uniqueness by showing that being different or looking different can be a good thing.  In this day and age I think it’s very important for our kids to understand that there is beauty in everyone, no matter the color of your hair, skin, eyes, and clothes.  There is great diversity that’s exhibited in the show and my husband and I really enjoy that about the show.  And it’s a lot of fun too! As Sunny would say - “Keep Smiling, Keep Styling”!

I wanted to have some fun and create some Sunny Day-inspired hairstyles and here’s some tutorials to help you put your daughter’s hair in an awesome and fun way!

Maddie’s Hair Tutorial :

Step 1: Split the hair into three sections, creating an upside down “V” with the middle section of the parted hair. Then tie up the middle section to keep it out of your way.

maddie1.jpg

Step 2: French braid the right and left parted sections while you still have the middle section tied up out of your way.

maddie2.jpg

Step 3: Now you should have the two sides French braided and the middle section (that was tied)  flowing free—or if you prefer to keep it tied, you can do it that way as well—and then braid the two side braids and the middle section into ONE braid.

maddie3.jpg

Step 4: Add some pizazz! You can add some Sunny Day bow clips and clip them to the top of the left and right braid. For more color, add some Sunny Day colored extensions, and tuck the into the braid, or you can even braid them in! If you want some color without extensions, you can rub some colored hair chalk on the hair (thought it works better with lighter hair)

 Olivia’s Hair Tutorial:

Step 1: Split hair into two equal sections, all the way.

livy1.jpg

Step 2: French braid both sections as if you were going to braid French pigtails, but stop midway and tie them with small hairbands.

livy2.jpg

Step 3: Add some Sunny Day color extensions all around the already braided part of the hair. (I would recommend 6-8 extensions maximum cuteness.)

Step 4: Take out the hair band of one braid and finish braiding down to the end while braiding in the extensions. Repeat on the other side.

Step 5 (optional): Twist up each braid up (as if you were twisting a bun) and use a small clip or bobby pin to hold it up. Repeat on the other side.
